Mercedes-Benz's executive express just got a little closer to supercar territory. For the 2014 model year, an upgraded version of the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG will boast new styling inside and out, more power and – for the first time ever – all-wheel-drive.

By sending power to all four wheels, Mercedes-Benz says that the E63 AMG will make the most of its 550 or – on the new S-Model configuration – 577 horsepower. Regardless of trim, all E63s make use of an updated version of the automaker's 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, a hand-built showpiece that has been upgraded from the previously-standard 518 horsepower.

The “normal” E63 AMG 4Matic now boasts 550 horsepower and 531 lb-ft. of torque, the latter of which is spread from 1,750 to 5,250 rpm. Opting for a new E63 AMG S-Model 4Matic boosts those figures to 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft. of torque. The E63 sedan now hits 60 mph from a complete standstill in 3.6 or 3.5 seconds and tops out at 155 or 186 mph for the standard and S-Models, respectively.

But the biggest news comes underneath the E63, where a performance-oriented version of the automaker's 4Matic all-wheel-drive system is newly standard on North American-specification models. Normally, the system distributes 33 percent of the power to the car's front wheels and 67 percent out back. Select Sport Handling mode from the E63's computer and a torque vectoring system applies the inside rear wheel's brakes to essentially prevent understeer.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz says that the E63 is now truly four-seasons compatible thanks to a multi-plate clutch that distributes power between the axles. The S-Model upgrades the traction situation even further with a limited slip rear differential. Sending all that grunt to all four wheels is an updated version of the AMG division's seven-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

In certain global markets, the E63 AMG will continue to come standard with rear-wheel-drive, but the U.S. market is treated to all-wheel-drive exclusively.

On the ride and handling front, the E63 uses rear air springs that have been tuned for an even more neutral feel in the S-Model. Compared to the standard E-Class, the E63 AMG 4Matic's front axle is 1.9 inches wider to improve high speed cornering stability. An electromechanical steering system directs the new 19-inch alloy wheels, which are an exclusive 10-spoke matte titanium gray on the S-Model. Carbon ceramic brakes are optional on S-Model configurations, which are notable also for their exclusive red-painted calipers.


Looking the part Visually, the E63 follows the form of its more pedestrian 2014 E-Class sedan brethren. Gone are the outgoing model's quad headlamps, replaced instead by a single lamp per side. A special AMG “A-wing” grille and a unique body kit are accented by V8 Biturbo badging on the fenders. At the rear, the body kit is finished out by a black diffuser insert and an AMG dual exhaust setup.

Helping the S-Model stand apart are glossy black touches up front and a black “S” on the trunk lid. Inside, the E63 once again uses unique sports seats. A leather and Alcantara synthetic suede steering wheel is standard. A new IWC-designed analog clock is exclusive to the AMG variants of the E-Class.

Carbon fiber exterior goodies are optional, as is a new AMG Night Package with extra high gloss black trim bits on the car's exterior. For those seeking the ultimate visual touch, a carbon fiber engine cover is another extra-cost option. The E63 AMG 4Matic sedan goes on sale during the summer of 2013 in the United States.

Författare: Erik Wedberg Nu har Mercedes äntligen släppt ifrån sig officiella bilder och information om nya E 63 AMG. Som vi redan visste handlar ansiktslyftet om så mycket mer än ett ansiktslyft. Visst har fronten blivit bra mycket mer aggressiv än tidigare och undersidan optimerad för att suga fast bilen mot marken men det är bland det mekaniska det riktigt intressanta har hänt.

Under huven finns precis som tidigare en 5,5 liter stor V8-motor med dubbelturbo men i detta nya utförande ger den ifrån sig 557 hästkrafter vid 5 500 r/min och 720 newtonmeter mellan 1 750 och 5 250 r/min, i stället för som tidigare 525 hästkrafter och 700 newtonmeter. Det räcker för att E 63 AMG ska ta sig från 0-100 km/h på 4,2 sekunder, vilket inte är någon jätteförbättring mot den gamla modellens 4,4. Som tur är har Mercedes gjort mer med E 63 AMG. För första gången går det att utrusta sin AMG-modell med fyrhjulsdriften 4Matic som gör att 0-100 km/h-tiden sjunker till 3,7 sekunder för sedanmodellen och 3,8 för kombin. Som vi redan vet är det inte ett vanligt 4Matic-system som sitter i AMG-modellen utan en modifierad och förstärkt variant som skickar 33 procent av kraften till framhjulen och resten bakåt. Man kan få sin E 63 AMG ännu snabbare.

Värstingen i familjen heter E 63 AMG S-Model som tack vare högre laddtryck ger 585 hästkrafter och 800 newtonmeter i vridmoment. Sedanmodellen gör då 0-100 km/h på 3,6 och kombin på 3,7 sekunder. Oavsett vilken av AMG-modellerna man väljer är toppfarten elektroniskt begränsad till 250 km/h. S-modellerna går att känna igen på speciella 19-tumsfälgar med tio ekrar, och diskreta kromlister fram och bak. E 63 AMG i bakhjulsdrivet utförande börjar säljas i april medan de fyrhjulsdrivna dröjer till juni. Som väntat passeras nya Audi RS6 Avant alltså av ny E 63 AMG, trots att Audi smällde till med 560 hästkrafter och 0-100 km/h på 3,9 sekunder. BMW M5 med 560 hästkrafter 680 newtonmeter och 0-100 km/h på 4,3 sekunder har helt plötsligt blivit långsam. Vem var det som sa att hästkraftskriget var över? Förresten… I pressmeddelandet som beskriver nya E 63 AMG har Mercedes slängt in en lockande mening. Senare i år kommer inte bara A 45 AMG 4Matic utan även CLA 45 AMG…

What It Is: The mid-cycle face lift of the quintessential Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes won’t change just the headlights, the grille, and the bumpers; the sheetmetal will be significantly altered as well. The pronounced, sculpted rear fenders will be scrapped—at least on the sedan and the station wagon. The coupe and convertible might retain their current side panels, setting them somewhat apart from the four- and five-door models. This distinction would be highly appropriate, as the two sets of body styles don't share a platform; the E-class coupe and convertible use a combination of C- and E-class underpinnings.

The prominent quartet of headlights—a key visual element that chief designer Gorden Wagener said he wouldn't "want to do without" when the E-class was launched—will be relegated to the dustbin, just like the hook-shaped daytime running lamps. Mercedes also will alter the angular and stylistically confused dashboard and interior introduced in 2009; the cabin will get a softer look that is more in line with the traditional perception of the brand.

Why It Matters: The E-class is Benz's most important model. It's under increasing sales competition from the Audi A6, the BMW 5-series, and the new Lexus GS. Its busy styling was not greeted enthusiastically by either traditional buyers or by perfectionist esthetes, so this is Benz’s chance to fix that. Platform: The E-class models will remain on their current pair of platforms. Mercedes could take the opportunity to fiddle with suspension tuning or add new chassis tech. Powertrains: The U.S. market will keep the E350’s 3.0-liter V-6, the E550’s turbocharged 4.7-liter V-8 (paired with 4MATIC all-wheel drive in the sedan), the E350 BlueTec’s 3.0-liter V-6 turbo-diesel (only available as a four-door), and the E63 AMG’s 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 (currently available only in sedan and wagon forms, but an E63 AMG coupe likely is on the horizon). The new-for-2013 E400 hybrid—featuring a 3.0-liter V-6 and a 27-hp, 207-lb-ft electric motor—will continue to be available as well. No diesel hybrid will be offered in the U.S., nor will any of Benz’s efficient four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines.

A seven-speed automatic is the only transmission on all models in the U.S. The jigsaw puzzle that is all-wheel-drive availability and restriction within the E-class lineup will remain as tedious as ever but likely won’t change much from today’s matrix. Competition: Audi A6, BMW 5-series, Cadillac CTS, Infiniti M, Jaguar XF, Lexus GS. Estimated Arrival and Price: The face-lifted E-class will be unveiled at the Detroit auto show in January 2013 and go on sale in the summer of next year as a 2014 model. The Mercedes-Benz CLS

 The Mercedes-Benz CLS is an executive-size sedan originally launched in 2004 and based on the W211 E-Class and was internally designated as the W219. The second generation CLS-Class was introduced in September 2010 and production started in the beginning of 2011.

 The CLS marked Mercedes-Benz's return to the executive-size coupe market since the (W124) E-Class Coupe (a two-door sedan) went out of production in 1995. The (W210) E-Class did not spawn a coupe variant, as Mercedes-Benz choose instead to introduce a smaller coupe based on the compact C-Class, the CLK-Class.

However, the CLK-Class was built with a lengthened C-Class wheelbase so it could be slotted as a mid-sized vehicle, and it also featured styling cues, engines, and similar pricing to the (W210) E-Class to give the impression that the (W124) E-Class Coupe had been directly replaced. Marketed as a four-door coupe, the CLS was designed by the American automotive designer, Michael Fink (born 1967), who styled the first CLK, the C-Sportcoupe, and is known as the stylist who penned the Maybach 57 and 62. According to a Mercedes-Benz press release, the CLS-class was produced to combine the "strong, emotive charisma" of a coupe with the "comfort and practicality" of a saloon.

Save for its four-door design, the CLS's design tends towards a coupe, as its sleek roofline reduces the rear passenger room to a 2+2 arrangement, and it offers a smaller selection of engines tending towards high powered of the range, compared to contemporary sedans such as the E-Class.

Mercedes 2013 c class

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will likely see few changes following the model's substantial makeover for 2012. This premium-compact car comes as a 2-door coupe or 4-door sedan. Either body style is available with rear- or all-wheel drive.

 Rear-drive C250 coupes and sedans have a 201-horsepower turbocharged 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine. Sedans are offered in Luxury and Sport trims, but only the latter is available for the coupe. C300 Luxury and C300 Sport sedan models have a 228-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engine and standard all-wheel drive. The rear-drive C350 Sport coupe and sedan, along with an all-wheel-drive C350 coupe, use a 3.5-liter V6 engine that is rated at 302 horsepower. Also available are the high-performance C63 coupe and sedan. Tuned by Mercedes' AMG division, the C63 has a 451-horsepower 6.3-liter V8; output increases to 481 horsepower with the optional AMG Development Package.

A limited-production C63 Black Series coupe may also be available. The C250, C300, and C350 use a 7-speed automatic transmission. C63 models use a 7-speed automated-manual transmission that behaves much like an automatic. Sport and C63 models have a sport suspension and unique interior and exterior styling. Safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front- and rear-side airbags, curtain-side airbags, and a driver-knee airbag.

Available features include a navigation system which includes a hard drive for storing digital-music files, bi-xenon headlamps, and 60/40 split-folding rear seat. Blind-spot alert, lane-departure warning, and rear-obstacle detection are also available, as is Mercedes' ATTENTION ASSIST driver-fatigue alert, which sounds a chime and displays a warning in the instrument cluster if sensors detect a driver who might be drowsy at the wheel. Special-order options include the Dynamic Handling Package for C250 and C350 models. It includes specific suspension tuning and a sport mode that adjusts the car's handling characteristics, throttle response, and steering ratio.

Optisch orientiert sich die neue Mercedes C-Klasse an der Mercedes Studie F800, in der "schon ganz viel Serie", so Daimler-Entwicklungschef Thomas Weber gegenüber auto motor und sport. Dank Leichtbaumaterialien an Motorhaube und Kofferraumdeckel, wie beim aktuellen Mercedes SL, und kleineren aerodynamischen Optimierungen soll der neuen Mercedes C-Klasse gegenüber dem aktuellen Modell einen Verbrauchvorteil von rund 20 Prozent bescheren. Dazu tragen auch die modifizierten Motoren ihr Scherflein bei. Zunächst wird es den C 220 CDI mit 170 PS geben, außerdem den C 250 CDI mit 204 PS Leistung und den 306 PS starken C 350. 

Aus der Kooperation mit Renault werden Diesel-Vierzylinder ebenfalls Einzug in die neue Mercedes C-Klasse halten. Hybrid und Brennstoffzelle folgen später Wer noch mehr sparen will, muss auf den Plug-in-Hybrid oder die C-Klasse mit Brennstoffzelle warten, eine genaue Terminierung ist hier jedoch nicht möglich. Immerhin steht ein Hybridantriebsstrang kurz nach der Markteinführung auf der Agenda. Doch bei allem Sparzwang auch im Hinblick auf den Flottenverbrauch der Marke darf ein AMG-Modell der neuen Mercedes C-Klasse nicht fehlen. Dies wird befeuert von einem doppelt aufgeladenen V8-Motor, der rund 450 PS leisten könnte. 

Ausgerüstet ist die Mercedes C-Klasse von AMG dann mit den üblichen Dreingaben aus Affalterbach - dazu gehören unter anderem eine stärker Bremsanlage, eine Sportauspuffanlage, ein modifiziertes Fahrwerk und das AMG-Interieur. Assistenzsysteme aus der S-Klasse Bei den Assistenzsystemen wird sich die neuen Mercedes C-Klasse an der 2013 eingeführten Mercedes S-Klasse orientieren. Hier hatte die Sicherheitsstudie ESF 2009 einen ersten Einblick in die neuen Systeme gegeben. Für die S-Klasse sind der Belt Bag, ein Sicherheitsgurtairbag, der sich bei einem Aufprall verbreitert, an Bord. Außerdem gibt es Pre Safe Pulse. 

Dieses System rückt die beiden vorderen Insassen bei einem Seitencrash in die Mitte. Des Weiteren wird es den Braking Bag geben, der bei einem drohenden Crash, eine Bremsplatte zwischen den Vorderrädern auf die Straße drückt. Welche dieser Innovationen in der C-Klasse serienmäßig oder gegen Aufpreis erhältlich sind, ist noch nicht bekannt. Mercedes C-Klasse als Kombi, Coupé und Cabrio Sicher indes ist, dass es von der neuen Mercedes C-Klasse nicht nur eine Kombi-, sondern auch eine Coupé-Version geben wird. Letztere fällt im Vergleich zur Limousine flacher aus, behält jedoch die B-Säule. Ein Mercedes C-Klasse Cabrio könnte das Modellportefolio noch ergänzen.

На первом появившемся в сети шпионском снимке этой модели, видно столько камуфляжа, что о тех или иных изменениях в дизайне говорить попросту невозможно. Можно лишь немного поспекулировать на тему «на что это все похоже». А похоже это в первую очередь на новый CLS-Class, особенно если присмотреться к передней оптике. Она стала выше, шире и закруглилась вдоль капота полнаправления к крыльям. 

Слишком рано вести разговор и о силовых агрегатах для новой модели. Кое-кто утверждает, что C-Class получит в свое распоряжение новое поколение трехцилиндровых моторов, а другие в то же время говорят, что автомобиль получит четырех-цилиндровые двигатели с возможностью отключения двух из них. Доподлинное известно лишь одно – среди моторов для C-Class точно будут гибриды, в составе которых будет присутствовать электромотор мощностью 27 лошадиных сил.
